The International Trade Administration (ITA) strengthens the competitiveness of U.S. industry, promotes trade and investment, and ensures fair trade through the rigorous enforcement of our trade laws and agreements. ITA works to improve the global business environment and helps U.S. organizations compete at home and abroad. ITA supports President Obama’s recovery agenda and the National Export Initiative to sustain economic growth and support American jobs.
To broaden and deepen the U.S. exporter base, the International Trade Administration Strategic Partnership Program is leveraging partnerships with trade associations and private corporations. Through these innovative public-private partnerships, we are communicating to millions of U.S. businesses about global business opportunities through the International Trade Administration.
In doing so, the International Trade Administration Strategic Partnership Program creates triple win scenarios:
What is the work environment?
We are a team of highly motivated professionals with a range of international business expertise. We are responsible, not only for leveraging partnerships with corporations and trade associations; but, with other non-governmental organizations to build awareness of exporting opportunities for small- and medium-sized businesses in order to help promote job creation here at home. Through these innovative public private partnerships we are supporting the national export objectives by communicating to U.S. businesses about export opportunities and how the International Trade Administration (ITA) can lead them to success.
What can you expect from this internship?
Our internship program is designed to provide real world experience to compliment academic lessons in international trade, international business, economics, and international affairs. As part of our internship program, interns work with Strategic Partnership Managers to develop and manage projects and initiatives through which our partners can support the National Export Initiative. This position gives hands on exposure to the various challenges and details associated with exporting internationally as well as how to establish, manage and measure large organizational relationships.
Interns have the opportunity to broaden skills in outreach by creating, organizing and maintaining websites, newsletters, and emails. Explore event management skills by potentially co-organizing portions of events ranging from luncheons, webinars, or seminars. We believe in giving interns responsibility for projects and mentoring them as they develop.
Though the internship is unpaid, the valuable experience gained during the program can prove to be very beneficial in the future, especially if the intern is interested in working for the federal government.
