The Houston-based Offshore Technology Conference, the largest world oil and gas show, will be replicated in Brazil for the second time due to substantial investments in Brazil's oil and gas sector. OTC Brazil will be held biennially and will focus on technical advances, challenges and opportunities for deep and ultra deep water offshore activities.
The state of Rio de Janeiro is a major center for Brazil's oil and gas industry, accounting for over 80% of national production. Rio houses national oil company Petrobras' headquarters as well as the main offices of all the foreign oil companies prospecting for oil in Brazil. Petrobras is currently revising its five-year investment plan. From 2010-2014, Petrobras should invest over US$ 174 billion.
