The Federal Republic of Brazil is Latin America's largest economy and is the fifth largest country in the world in terms of land mass and population. Brazil is the world's 7th largest economy and is projected to be the 5th largest consumer market by 2020. The country has a large and diversified economy that offers U.S. companies opportunities to partner and to export their goods and services. Brazil's hosting of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro offers many opportunities for U.S. companies in the broadcasting industry. For instance, Brazil will start the “switch off” of its analog systems in 2015 and all the television and radio stations still on legacy systems will be seeking new digital equipment to make the transition.
