Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Advisory Committee Meeting
The Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Advisory Committee (RE&EEAC) will meet on May 2-3, 2012 to finalize and vote on proposed recommendations to the Secretary of Commerce regarding the development and administration of programs and policies to expand the competitiveness of the U.S. renewable energy and energy efficiency industries, including specific challenges associated with exporting. [April 2012]

Building Sustainable Cities in Asia: Presenting Opportunities for U.S. Companies
At the 2012 Asia-Pacific Business Outlook conference in Los Angeles, the Pacific Cities Sustainability Initiative (PCSI), launched in 2009, was highlighted for its work in addressing urban sustainability challenges arising from the rapid urbanization of cities in Asia. By bringing together business leaders, policy makers, and academics from across the Pacific to share common challenges, attempted solutions, and areas for assistance, PCSI also attracts businesses interested in seeking sustainable services or exporting them and provides networking opportunities and seminars. USTDA Grant Supports Recycling and Clean Energy in Ukraine
The U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) is supporting increased recycling and clean energy development in Sumy, Ukraine, through a $350,000 grant awarded to SVIT-M, a Ukrainian private municipal waste recycling company. The grant will partially fund a feasibility study on a project to recycle municipal waste and convert most of the remaining waste into refuse-derived fuel. The project is also expected to create substantial export opportunities for U.S. companies involved in related equipment. [March 2012]

OPIC Board Approves $250M to Expand Renewable Energy & Infrastructure Lending in India
The Board of Directors of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), the U.S. Government’s development finance institution, approved $250 million in financing to help India’s premier infrastructure lender expand its lending to renewable energy and infrastructure projects, providing much-needed long-term capital to the country’s effort to keep pace with the sectors’ massive potential. APEC Workshop on Smart Grid Deployment and Investment

Panama: Electrical Power Equipment
