OPIC Issues First Green Guaranties, Supporting Climate-Friendly Investments The Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) issued its first-ever Green Guaranties to eligible U.S. investors in domestic debt capital markets. These U.S. government-guaranteed obligations adhere to the Green Bond Principles of 2014, developed in collaboration with leading capital markets issuers, investors, underwriters and environmental groups. U.S. Victory in Challenge to China’s Rare Earth Export Restraints U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman announced that the World Trade Organization (WTO) Appellate Body found China’s export restraints on rare earths, tungsten, and molybdenum, which are used as key components in a multitude of U.S-made products for critical American manufacturing sectors, including hybrid car batteries, wind turbines, and energy-efficient lighting, to be inconsistent with China’s WTO obligations.
