Friday, June 5, 2009 – The Oakland Export Assistance Center (EAC) Director Rod Hirsch hosted U.S. Ambassador to Thailand Eric G. John. Director Hirsch arranged for Ambassador John to discuss market challenges, as well as market opportunities, for California wine makers with the California Wine Institute.
Director Hirsch then arranged an "urban winery" tour for the Ambassador. The first stop was in Alameda at Rosenblum Cellars, followed by the Rockwall Wine Company housed in an aircraft hangar at the old Alameda Naval Air Station. R&B Cellars organized this site visit at the Rockwall Wine Company. The next stop was JC Cellars and Dashe Cellars, which jointly operate their tasting rooms and wineries in the Port of Oakland warehouse district. They are all members of the East Bay Vintners Alliance.
