Monday, June 4, 2007 - The U.S. Commercial Service in Oakland and Dakar, Senegal in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) conducted a virtual wine tasting for California wineries with importers in West Africa. The video wine tasting was a pilot California wine promotion event. The Oakland Export Assistance Center (EAC) organized this event in partnership with the law firm Burnham Brown and FedEx. Burnham Brown with a specialty practice assisting companies doing business in Africa. The U.S. Commercial Service has a strategic partnership with FedEx to promote U.S. exports. The featured California wineries at the event included Wente Vineyards and multiple varietals showcased by New World Wine Exports. The wine tasting took place on Monday, June 4th and served as the kick-off day of USA Week in Dakar, Senegal. This week- long trade promotion event was to attract U.S. companies interested in using the Senegalese market as a point of entry to West and Central Africa.
