
On Tuesday, September 7, 2005, the Oakland Export Assistance Center hosted a delegation of Algerian business and government officials. Also in attendance were Director Jim Lucchesi, Export-Import Bank of the United States and q representative from the U.S. Foreign Agricultural Service.
Algeria is seeking to promote greater trade ties with the United States, especially in the agricultural sector. Among the delegates were the Algerian Ambassador to the United States and the President of the U.S.-Alferia Business Councile(USABC), Dr. Ismael Chikhoune. As former President of California Green Valley, Dr. Chikhoune had been a client of the Oakland Export Assistance center and was awarded the U.S. Department of Commerce's Export Achievement Certificate for his export sales of agricultural equipment to Algeria.
