On Tuesday, May 10, 2011, the Oakland Export Assistance Center organized a Europe Cleantech Export Opportunities seminar. The event had over 70 registrants.
The Commercial Section heads from Austria, Bulgaria, Denmark, Finland, Italy, Russia, and the Ukraine gave presentations on market opportunities and challenges. Andrew Bennett from Manufacturing and Services provided a presentation on the Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency Export Initiative (RE4I), which is part of the National Export Initiative.
In the afternoon there was a private sector "best practices" panel. On the panel were representatives from OSISoft LLC, AES Corp., GE Energy, and S&C Electric. The panel was moderated by Joel Makower with Clean Edge Inc./Greenbiz Group Inc. Lorraine Hariton, Special Representative with the Commercial & Business Affairs division of the U.S. State Department gave a brief presentation on the “Green Embassies” program at the end of the program. Throughout the event there were concurrent private company meetings with the Senior Commercial Officers. FedEx was the corporate supporter of the event.
