On Tuesday, May 24, 2011 Under Secretary of Commerce Francisco Sanchez presented Oakland Export Assistance Center Director Rod Hirsch's client, R&B Cellars, with and Export Achievement Certificate.
The celebratory event took place at Miss Pearl's Jam House restaurant in Jack London Square. The Under Secretary was in the San Francisco Bay Area for the Pow Wow travel and tourism trade show.
Kevin Brown along with his wife and co-wine maker Barbara Brown graciously accepted the award in recognition of their sales to Hungary, Slovakia, Thailand, Vietnam and Hong Kong. In attendance of the food and wine pairing event were Lucia Maskova, Commercial Specialist from the Slovak Republic, Eduardo Torres, Director of the Miami and Ft. Lauderdale EACs, Daniel Giavina, Trade Specialist in the San Francisco and North Bay EACs, Greg Mignano, Pacific Northwest Regional Director, representatives from FedEx, the Port of Oakland, the media and key stake holders of the winery.
Dan Giavina arranged for Destinos TV to film the event, Jack London Square and interview the Port of Oakland Director as part of the Pow Wow tourism promotion activity.
