Solarcon India Trade Show

Oakland Export Assistance Center Director Rod Hirsch supported Assistant Secretary Francisco Sanchez' Cleantech Trade Mission to India at the Solarcon trade show in Hyderabad, India. On Wednesday, November 9, 2011 Rod worked with his fellow CS India Energy Team colleague, Preetha Nair, on an Export Achievement Certificate presentation ceremony the opening day of the trade show. A/S Sanchez presented Certificates to Rod's client, Azure Power, along with Tempe, AZ-based First Solar and Longmount, CO-based Abound Solar. Rod's client, Azure Power, participated in the trade mission and had a booth at Solarcon. Azure Power recently received a loan guarantee from the U.S. Export Import Bank to purchase U.S.-origin thin film solar panels from First Solar for a 5MW solar project in Rajasthan. Solarcon, India is a certified U.S. Department of Commerce trade show and is organized by SEMI based in San Jose, CA.

Oakland Export Assistance Center Director Rod Hirsch traveled to Hong Kong and then mainland China to support his environmental technology client, Han's Technologies Inc. (HTI), as part of their on-going customized service support. Rod helped facilitate a U.S. Department of Commerce Certificate of Appreciation presentation at the Eco Expo Asia 2011 trade show in Hong Kong to recognize several mainland government officials for their support of HTI's waste water treatment plants in their Provinces. Rod then met with HTI's partners and other government officials in mainland China that he has previously hosted in Oakland, CA as part of a Domestic Platinum Key Service. Rod also visited several of the wastewater treatment plants in Yunan and Fujian Provinces that HTI had recently completed.
Clean Energy Trade Mission

U.S. Commerce Secretary, Gary Locke successfully led a Clean Energy Business Development Mission to both China and Indonesia on May 15-25, 2010. The mission helped promote the exports of leading U.S. technologies related to clean energy, energy efficiency, and electric energy storage, transmission, and distribution. The delegation stopped in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing, China from May 15-21, 2010 and in Jakarta, Indonesia from May 23-25, 2010.

The U.S. Commercial Service arranged a Single Company Promotion event for OSIsoft, Inc. in Moscow, Russia. The event was put together to increase OSIsoft's visibility and sales in the Russian market. During the Single Company Promotion, Commercial Officer Jonathan Heimer from the U.S. Embassy presented the U.S. Department of Commerce's Certificates of Appreciation to Federal Grid Company of Unified Energy System, a major purchaser of U.S. products and technologies, and CROC, a valuable partner of OSIsoft. Headquartered in Hayward, California, OSIsoft, Inc. is a software company that delivers the PI System, the world's leading highly scalable and secure infrastructure for the management of real-time data and events. PI connects people with the right information at the right time to analyze, collaborate and act.

Director Rod Hirsch attended the American Water Works Association (AWWA) 2007 trade show and conference to support Oakland USEAC clients and the U.S. Commercial Service Environmental Technology Team. During the show, the U.S. Commercial Service conducted matchmaking for U.S. companies with foreign buyers and a program to counsel U.S. businesses about overseas market opportunities.

Security and Safety Trade Expo 2005

Director Rod Hirsch of the Oakland Export Assistance Center (EAC) traveled to Tokyo, Japan from October 17 to 21, 2005. This trip was sponsored by Toyo Automation, a Japanese company which the Oakland EAC had hosted on three occasions to meet with local East Bay earthquake preparedness companies. Due to the Oakland Export Assistance Center's efforts, Toyo Automation has formed a strategic partnership with Seismic Switch, a client of the Oakland EAC. As a result, Toyo Automation invited Director Hirsch to attend the Security and Safety Trade Expo in Tokyo Japan to support this new partnership. At a Toyo Automation reception, Director Hirsch, along with Commercial Officer John Fleming and Commercial Specialist Hisanao Aomori presented the U.S. Department of Commerce's Export Achievement Certificate to Seismic Switch.

American Water Works Association (AWWA) 2005

The U.S. Commercial Service's Environmental Technologies Team participated in the AWWA Annual Conference & Exhibition on June 12-15, 2005 in San Francisco, California. The AWWA is the largest trade show and conference for the water industry worldwide. Director Rod Hirsch of the Oakland Export Assistance Center, along with other fellow domestic Environmental Technologies Team members, arranged a Show Time Program and Matchmaking Program for U.S. exhibitors to meet with foreign buyers and receive export counseling at the show. Commercial Specialists who participated in the Show Time Program included those from the following countries: Brazil, Bulgaria, China, Czech Republic, Egypt, Netherlands, Philippines, Russia/Far East, Tajikistan, Ukraine, UK, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam. Representatives for the Commercial Service's partners, EXIM Bank and the World Bank, also parted in these programs to counsel clients on financing opportunities.
