U.S. Ambassador to Australia Cleantech Seminar

The Oakland Export Assistance Center hosted Ambassador Jeffrey Bleich on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 for a cleantech opportunities focused seminar. The office partnered with the Australia Consulate/Austrade in San Francisco. Oakland Export Assistance Center Director Rod Hirsch made welcoming remarks with FedEx representative Todd Acker. FedEx was the event corporate supporter. The Ambassador gave a general overview of the favorable political and trade relationship with Australia and the various market opportunities that exist for U.S. exporters. Ms. Kelly Simms from the Consulate discussed new legislation and funding available for energy and energy efficiency (smart grid) projects in Australia. Several successful cleantech case study examples were then presented by PAX Water (water tech.), Aurora Algae (biofuel), and Twisted Pair (smart grid). The event held at the Oakland Federal Building attracted approximately 40 company representatives and partners.
