On May 6, 2011 the Sacramento Area Regional Technology Alliance (SARTA) and its MedStart program held the second annual Sacramento Med Tech Showcase at Sacramento State University. Med Tech Showcase 2011 was a one-day conference highlighting the area's rapidly growing medical technology sector. Senior International Trade Specialist Tony Hill and Trade Assistant Jessica Lam had a booth at the exhibit hall representing the U.S. Commercial Service, Sacramento US Export Assistance Center.
MedStart is an initiative of SARTA that is designed to assist and accelerate the development of medical technology ventures within the Greater Sacramento Region. MedStart helps entrepreneurs assemble solid management teams, secure adequate funding and accelerate the commercialization of sound product ideas.
A welcome and opening remarks were given by Cary Adams, Chair of MedStart and Meg Arnold, CEO of SARTA. Next was the keynote address from Douglas Busch, Senior Vice President of Intel-GE Care Innovations.
Following the opening speakers, there were workshop sessions on Regenerative Medicine and Telehealth. After the first group of workshops was lunch in the exhibit hall. Folowing lunch, there were more workshop sessions on Competitive Growth Challenges and Venture Capital.
This was an important event for leaders and companies involved in medical technology in the Sacramento region. The Sacramento Export Assistance Center was proud to represent the US Commercial Service at this event and have the chance to talk to companies about ways the Commercial Service would be able to increase their international sales. The Sacramento Export Assistance Center is happy to report that this was a successful event that allowed ITS Hill to connect with many potential new clients.
