The Sacramento Clean Tech Showcase, hosted by the Sacramento Area Regional Technology Alliance’s (SARTA) CleanStart program, took place on October 24th, 2011 at the Sacramento State University Student Union.
Sponsors for the event included: SMUD, Sacramento Business Journal, Ernst & Young, JFD: The Digital Agency, Sacramento State University, Small Business Association (SBA), Comstocks Magazine, Power Inn Alliance, Sacramento County, Sacramento Works, AT&T, PG&E, Morrison and Foerster, Weintraub Genshlea Chediak and Endicott Communications Inc.
The morning plenary session featured Neal Dikeman of Jane Capital Partners LLC, Brian Keane of SmartPower and Carla Peterman of the California Energy Commission. They spoke in regards to: what the best clean tech companies are doing, where the new opportunities from state policy will be, how regional companies are succeeding, and how Sacramento compares to other regions as a clean tech hub.
The remainder of the day was filled with several panel discussions on topics such as: Investor Priotities, Customer Needs, Technology Innovations, Renewable Bio Fuels, Policy Innovation and The Growing Solar Cluster. Many key figures in the Sacramento clean-tech industry spoke on these panels and shared their knowledge with representatives from fellow clean-tech companies.
There were over 90 exhibitors present at the Sacramento Clean Tech Showcase. Exhibitors included companies from various backgrounds including clean technology companies, government organizations, educational organization, and many other support companies and sponsors. The Sacramento U.S. Export Assistance Center partnered and co-exhibited with the Sacramento Regional Center for International Trade Development. George Tastard, director Sacramento USEAC attended to learn, mix and mingle to share the USDoC mission and outreach to existing and new potential partners, clients and stake holders. Sacramento USEAC/CITD staff canvassed the exhibitor hall and we are happy to report that we are following up with 2 companies to support their international business efforts.
