On March 17-19, a business delegation from the U.S. state of Illinois arrived in Douala to explore commercial opportunities as part of a Trade Mission sponsored by the U.S. Embassy’s Commercial Section. Chief Executive Officers of the participating American companies met with over 50 interested Cameroonian firms, resulting in several business deals beneficial to U.S. and Cameroonian businesses. One U.S. CEO said “[w]e will certainly be bringing our products to Cameroon and look forward to a long and prosperous relationship with our distributors there.” Another CEO said he had been on over 50 trade missions to other countries during his long career and his trip to Cameroon was “the best.”
The five American companies in the Illinois delegation are: Ervin Equipment Inc, American Plastic Technologies, MedGyn, Mi-Jack Select Sales & Leasing, and Kofa International Company. They operate in the following sectors: construction and heavy equipment, agricultural machinery, electrical generators, plastics and plastic technologies, medical technology and pharmaceuticals, and trade and Investment financing. The Trade Mission is yet another sign of the growing trade relationship between the U.S. and Cameroon.
