Trade America/SelectUSA- Automotive Sector 2012 is an event designed by the U.S. Commercial Service (USCS) to help U.S. firms connect with business partners and start or grow their exports to the Canadian automotive sector, and to help U.S. organizations to attract potential Canadian investors. The event will be lead by a senior USG official and will include meetings with the local manufacturers, primarily with Canadian Tier 1, Tier 2, and OEM automotive manufacturers.
Canada is the largest export market for the United States and the automotive sector is one of the major segments. Total Canadian light-vehicle production is up 2.6% with 896,486 units produced (Jan.-May. 2011) compared to the same period 2010. Canadian imports of passenger motor cars from the United States increased by 10.7% to a total value of US $5.3 Billion. Further growth is expected.
Who should participate; U.S. manufacturers of parts, components, assemblies, equipment, installations, and technological systems for the automotive industry; firms that are Tier 1 or Tier 2 suppliers or that have the technical and financial capabilities to become a supplier to the automotive manufacturing sector; U.S. companies already doing business with Canadian automotive manufacturers, as well as U.S. companies seeking to enter the market for the first time; U.S. Economic Development Organizations (EDO) interested in attracting foreign investment.
