2005 U.S.-China Healthcare Forum, July 11-12, Beijing, China

The U.S.-China Healthcare Forum seeks to enhance cooperation in the area of healthcare policy; to improve each country's ability to efficiently provide effective, sustainable, high quality healthcare services to its people; and to support U.S. companies' interest in engaging the Chinese government on issues that ultimately will influence their ability to access the Chinese market. The Forum will focus on four main themes: (1) How to develop a responsive, "patient centered" healthcare system; (2) How to build a financially sustainable healthcare system; (3) How to regulate healthcare in a manner consistent with international standards and practices; and (4) How to foster a system that promotes innovation and modernization.

The Forum is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Commerce and the Department of Health and Human Services; and on the Chinese side by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Commerce. The Forum will take place July 11-12, 2005 in Beijing, China. For information, please contact Jenny May at jenny.may@mail.doc.gov.
