The Commercial Service (CS) Japan will organize the U.S. Apparel Show at the International Fashion Fair (IFF) in Tokyo, Japan. Senken Shimbun, the premier fashion newspaper in Japan, is sponsoring the show. This event will showcase Men's and Women's casual fashion products. The U.S. Pavilion is open to all U.S. manufacturers and Japanese agents of U.S. companies that offer products with more than 51% U.S. content.
The Japanese market is the third largest export market for the American apparel industry after Canada and Mexico. U.S. apparel exports to Japan in 2011 were $266 million, a 9.2% increase from the previous year. With the strong Yen, this is the best time for U.S. companies to enter or expand their export profits to Japan. Opportunities for U.S. exhibitors include direct contact with fashion buyers, potential agents, and distributors from throughout Japan. Attendance is expected to exceed 20,000 over the three-day show.
Please note that the minimum number of participants required to execute the pavilion is 15. There is a chance that we cancel the pavilion if we do not have 15 exhibitors by mid November 2012. Also, this project is budgeted based on the exchange rate of 74 Yen to the dollar. There is a chance that we will need to collect an additional financial contribution or cancel the pavilion in case the exchange rate changes dramatically.
