WHO IS HANDLING REGISTRATION IN THE COUNTRY?
The Ministry of the Environment, Physical Planning and Public Works (YPEHODE), Department of Alternative Management for Solid Waste is the primary body that is handling the registration in Greece.
Also the company “ APPLIANCES RECYCLING S.A.” (See document to your right for more information and application form)which consists of private companies that produce electric and electronic equipment. This company has a coordinative and informative role and is also responsible for the collection and storage of the Waste of Electric and Electronic Equipment. This company reports directly to the Ministry’s Department of Alternative Management for Solid Waste.
The financial sources of this company come from the producers of these products. Some funds for the solid waste are also given directly to the Ministry of Environment by the Community Support Framework (CSF).
The whole process of registration should be done by the importer of the U.S. company in Greece thourgh telephone, faz or email.
WHAT IS THE TIMING FOR REGISTRATION?
It started in March 5, 2004, the same day that the plan, concerning the WEEE Directive, was published in the Greek government gazette.
IS THERE A COLLECTIVE OR TAKEBACK SYSTEM THAT COMPANIES CAN JOIN?
The Company “APPLIANCES RECYCLING S.A.” is responsible for the collection and takeback system under the supervision of the Ministry of Environment, Department of Alternative Management for Solid Waste.
