Where can I find a list of foreign companies in a particular industry or sector?

The Trade Information Center (TIC) does not have comprehensive lists such as these, but can direct callers to useful resources.

The International Partner Search, a service of the U.S. Commercial Service, helps U.S. companies find qualified international buyers, partners, or agents without traveling overseas. CS trade specialists will deliver detailed company information on up to five pre-screened international companies that have expressed an interested in the U.S. firm's products and services. Fees depend on the scope of the work. Orders for this service can be placed through local U.S. Export Assistance Centers (USEAC). USEACs are listed on the Export.gov website by clicking on “Find a Local U.S. Office" under "Contact Us" or by calling 1-800-USA-TRAD(E) and speaking with a TIC international trade specialist.

Commercial officers in foreign trade offices, embassies, and consulates often represent the interests of foreign businesses and can be contacted for information and assistance. A list of these is available on the Export.gov by clicking on “Find an Overseas Office" under "Contact Us."

Foreign trade associations can also provide valuable information on industries and companies located in countries outside of the United States. A list of these is often included in the Appendices of individual Country Commercial Guides (CCG). Most CCGs are also available free of charge through the Export.gov website by first clicking on “Market Research” on the left navigation bar. Next, click on "Market Research Library" (MRL) from within the text of the Market Research webpage. In the MRL, select the desired country in the <country> field and “country commercial guide” in the <report type> field of the search engine.
