If you answered “no” or “I’m not sure” to any of the above questions, the Automated Export System seminar and workshop can assist you. This export compliance seminar is an all day program where experts from the Department of Commerce will provide training on export filing requirements. The U.S. Commercial Service South Florida, is partnering with the U.S. Census Bureau and NOVA Southeastern University’s Hudson Institute of Executive Education to bring you the following programs:

Two Programs

March 3, 2015: Seminar - The Census Bureau and port officers from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will offer an engaging day of learning. As of April 5, 2014, new export requirements were implemented that amended the regulations published in 2008. Census Bureau experts will cover these regulations and filing requirements of the FTR, as well as how to classify your commodities using the Schedule B classification requirements, and provide a thorough overview of the AES.  CBP officers will cover port requirements and efforts against terrorism and international narcotics trafficking. Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) officers will highlight export control requirements.

March 4, 2015: Workshop - Get certified training on AESPcLink! Learn how to successfully file your Electronic Export Information (EEI) via the Windows-based desktop PC component, AESPcLink. The workshop is half day and you can choose between two sessions 8:30am - 12:00pm or 1:30pm -5:00pm.

Highlights include:

  • Filing requirements
  • How to avoid common penalties and seizure of cargo
  • Best practices for maintaining compliance with export regulations
  • BIS export control requirements
  • Overview of Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCN)
  • How to classify your product
