The Department of Commerce recognizes that while there a number of U.S. companies that have been successful in India, some companies need assistance negotiating the Indian market to take advantage of the great opportunities that exist.

This mission supports President Obama’s National Export Initiative (NEI) which is aimed at strengthening the U.S. economy and U.S. competitiveness through meaningful job creation. It also supports the International Trade Administration’s Growth in Emerging Metropolitan Sectors (GEMS) initiative.

The business delegation will have an opportunity to promote equipment, services, and technologies which support the India’s infrastructure needs in the following sectors:

  • Project Management and Engineering Services (including architecture and design)
  • Transportation (including road/highways, rail, airports and intelligent transportation systems),
  • Energy (including distribution, transmission and smart grid)

U.S. companies that are already operating in India as well as U.S. companies that are interested and committed to entering this market for the first time.

Application Process

Don’t miss this tremendous business opportunity. Request an application to participate in this business development mission. The application deadline is February 1, 2012. Applications received after the deadline will be considered only if space and scheduling constraints permit.

After a company has been selected to participate in the mission, a participation fee paid to the U.S. Department of Commerce is required. The participation fee for one company representative will be $9,000 for small or medium-sized enterprises (SME) and $11,000 for large companies. The fee for each additional firm representative (large firm or SME) is $2,000. The participation fee covers multiple networking receptions, regional commercial briefings, local transport for events and appointments, some meals, as well as full agendas of one-on-one meetings with potential Indian business partners in Mumbai and Delhi. The Commercial Service will assist in booking hotels at favorable rates, but lodging costs, some meals, transportation to and from India, and incidental expenses will be the responsibility of each mission participant.
