April 14-18, 2012

Why Saudi Arabia? Why Now?

  • Saudi Arabia wants to reduce its reliance on petroleum-generated power through development of alternative energy sources and more efficient generation and use of energy

  • Saudi Arabia’s transmission and distribution market saw a 13% compound annual growth rate over the previous decade, with U.S. grid equipment exporters sustaining high market share
  • Expansion of its energy supply and integration of solar power will require investment in grid modernization and smart grid technologies
  • The Saudi construction sector is set to grow at an annual average of 4% to a $23 billion market by 2015. A recent order for 500,000 houses at a cost of $66.7 billion creates huge demand for materials and technologies
