The International Defense Exhibition & Conference 2013 (IDEX 2013), serving the Gulf States, is one of the world's largest land and naval defense exhibition. Participating in the USA Pavilion, organized by The Association of the U.S. Army (AUSA), offers U.S. companies an excellent opportunity to open doors in the Middle East's important defense market. According to Frost & Sullivan's, "The Middle East Defense Market," defense spending in the Middle East is expected to top $100 (USD) billion by 2014, opening up substantial opportunities for U.S. defense companies to develop and expand sales in the region. In addition, IDEX continues to attract a growing number of international decision-makers, and key military and government representatives. Strong representation from the Gulf Cooperation Council and Middle Eastern and North African countries make IDEX 2013 a primary vehicle to reach these influential audiences.
Co-located with NAVDEX, which provides a dedicated focus on maritime security, IDEX 2013 is a tri-service event. In 2011, IDEX attracted 1,060 exhibiting companies from 52 countries and over 60,000 attendees. UAE Armed Forces alone purchased US$4 billion worth of equipment at IDEX 2011.
Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, IDEX 2013 has the full support of the UAE Armed Forces. UAE's procurement budget is expected to grow more than 7 percent over the next 5 years, with US$3.9 billion expenditures planned for 2013. By 2020, UAE is targeted to spend US$5 billion on new defense equipment. Anticipated acquisitions will include naval corvettes, UAVs and helicopters.
As the only international defense exhibition featuring live fire demonstrations using live ammunition, with a venue for full display and demonstration of all land and naval defense military hardware, IDEX 2013 provides a premier event for U.S. exhibitors to showcase their products before the top decision makers in the Gulf States, Middle East region and the rest of the world. |
