Virtual Education Fairs

You are cordially invited to participate in our upcoming Virtual Education Fairs (VEF) in countries from around the world. Each VEF is limited to six appropriately accredited U.S. Private High Schools, Boarding Schools, and 4-year Colleges and Universities. The most reputable and best performing agents from targeted markets will visit the U.S. Consulates or Embassies in each country listed to listen and watch the presentations of the schools participating in the fairs. Using web conferencing technology, your school will be able to conduct a 10-minute presentation via PowerPoint to an audience of no less than 10 of the top agents during the fair. Please note that the majority of educational institutions, which participated in our 2013 and 2014 virtual education fairs with Brazil, Vietnam, and others countries, reported increases in student enrollments from the countries as a result of the events.

Virtual Education Fair in Chile

The U.S. Commercial Service offers American higher education institutions a low-cost opportunity to recruit students from Chile through an online presentation and discussion. Qualified student recruiters based in Chile will be invited to the U.S. Embassy in Santiago, Chile, to participate in the webinar. This 90 minute Virtual Education Fair (VEF) is open to only six U.S. education institutions to present the strengths of their programs, staff, housing, funding and location, among others.

Chile is considered to be one of the most stable developing markets in its region with an impressive average growth rate of over 5 percent for over a decade (since 1990).  However, the economy has slowed down, and the GDP is expected to grow at 1.9 percent in 2016. Chile and the U.S. entered a Free Trade Agreement in 2004, which increased bilateral trade 340%.  Chile is also progressive in its development and is continuing to liberalize economic activity through FTAs and supporting the flow of open markets.

Becas Chile, created in 2008 as a response to the need and urgent requirement to have not only highly productive but also more creative, innovative and entrepreneurial academics, professional and technical Training Center graduates, offers 2,500 scholarships in energy, biotechnology, IT, environment, health, education, science, and engineering.  The programs are available for postgraduate degrees, internships for technical graduates and teaching programs.  22% of the students that apply to these scholarships choose the U.S. because of its proximity to Chile and its reputation in high education standards.  With the U.S. and Chile increasing bilateral trade and FDI, we can look forward to a progressive future between the U.S. and Chile. English language programs, including those for professional development are excellent to market in Chile as the demand for bilingual business professionals proficient in English is continually growing.  Study exchange programs for undergraduate students and graduate students are also another service in high demand.

Virtual Education Fair in India

India’s higher education system is the world’s third largest in terms of enrollment of students (22 million) next only to China and the United States.  The huge demand/supply gap, participation of large number of private players, growth of IT, demand for skilled workforce, increasing FDI, disruptive innovation and online education are a few factors which has led to this exponential growth in this sector.  India has emerged as a strong market for investment in the training and education sector, due to its favorable demographics (young population) and being a services-driven economy with growth in sectors such as software development, pharmaceuticals, life sciences and healthcare. India’s 29.4% growth for Indian students in the history of the Open Doors project spans back to six decades. The international student data in different fields of study shows a considerable increase not only in streams like engineering, computer science and business, but also in the health professions, and life sciences fields.
