Welcome to Our Power Generation Page

Power is generated through the use of fossil fuels, nuclear power and renewable energy sources. Fossil fuels generate most U.S. power by burning coal, natural gas and petroleum to generate electricity. Nuclear power provides about one-fifth of U.S. electricity and renewable energy (hydropower, wind power, geothermal power and solar power) make up the rest of the country’s sources of energy.

The United States is projected to need 281,000 megawatts of new power generation capacity by 2025 – equivalent to almost 950 new power plants of 300 megawatts each. In emerging and transitional economies, electricity consumption will grow at more than double the rate in the United States.
