Organized by i2i Consulting and supported by the Global Cold Chain Alliance (GCCA), India Cold Chain Expo (ICE) is recognized by the U.S. Department of Commerce as the leading industry event in this market. The India Cold Chain Expo 2012 is the only national focused business development and selling venue concentrating on the public refrigerated warehouses, refrigerated logistics, refrigerated construction and refrigerated transportation products and services sector in India where over 60 exhibitors and 1,700 visitors from 10 countries meet to develop new business. Based on the success of the last show, a U.S. Pavilion will again feature prominent American suppliers of a wide variety of products and technologies essential to the development of a cold chain logistics network from the farm to the supermarket. Some of the companies that have already confirmed space include Owens, Huntsman, Ingersoll Rand, DuPont, DOW and Carrier. A Catalog Show is being added for new to market companies seeking to explore marketing opportunities and gauge potential interest in their product or service.
India currently produces over 190 million tons of fruits and vegetables annually. Diversification and value addition are key descriptors of productivity enhancements in Indian production agriculture today. These changes along with the emerging food retail sector, especially with the opening up of foreign direct investment, generate opportunities in the domestic food supply sector. Market liberalization, increasing income and shifts in consumer demand also offer attractive selling and business development opportunities for U.S. cold chain exporters. Though India has made significant progress in terms of creating refrigerated warehouses, it still is far behind when compared with major horticulture producers of the world in terms of storage space available for per metric ton of fruits and vegetables produced.
