| Event Summary: | ||||
|
Now in its 10th year, LED EXPO was inaugurated in 2003. At its inception, it was the world's first B to B trade show dedicated solely to the LED industry. The show attracted more than 18,000 attendees in 2011 to 259 company exhibitors in 574 booths. Of this number, approximately 16,893 identified themselves as buyers. While the bulk of the show attendees are from within Korea, representatives from 14 countries attended the 2011 event.
The production center of the LED industry is Asia; the Korean Government has declared its intent to be ranked among the world's top LED manufacturing countries. Several of the world's largest LED companies are based in Korea. Among these industry leaders are Samsung, Seoul Semiconductor and LG. For U.S. companies with cutting edge products used in the production of LED or OLED products who can sell to companies such as these, there are few better targeted shows in the world than LED EXPO.
In addition to the exhibition, LED EXPO features a three-day technology conference. The conference program is a much anticipated annual feature of the EXPO bringing together technology and thought leaders from around the world and across the lighting industry. Speakers are recruited from Asia, the United States, and Europe. The 2011 conference presented a diverse offering of topics ranging from world and major country market trends to in-depth discussions on LED standardization issues and the steady emergence of OLEDs as the next wave in TV technology.
Exhibitors from the show who are launching new products or have new technology developments to share are also provided an opportunity to present as part of the conference program. The conference attracts approximately 300 buyers, engineers, and senior executives from LED companies in Korea and the region. The conference program is regarded by exhibitors as another value-added platform to reach out to potential new agents, distributors and strategic channel partners.
With the passage of the U.S.- Korea Free Trade Agreement, the opportunity for U.S. exporters to capitalize on an improved competitive position vis-a-vis other foreign competitors is enhanced –making LED EXPO an even more attractive selling platform for U.S. companies. |
