The Export Administration Regulations covers the release of controlled technology to foreign nationals in the United States. This is referred to as a "Deemed Export". Many firms are unaware of this regulation, yet it has significant implications, not only for companies that hire foreign nationals but also for universities, research laboratories, and high technology research centers that host visiting researchers, students and scientists from overseas.
Stephen Hall, from the Bureau of Industry and Security will examine questions often posed by businesses like
- what is “use technology” and "fundamental research"?
- what is the proper procedure to fill out an application for export license where the product is technology?
-what is the correct way to complete the export control question on the DHS I-129 non-immigrant visa form?
