U.S. Export and Re-export Controls Seminar
April 23-24, 2014
Tokyo, Japan

The U.S. Commercial Service of the U.S. Embassy, Tokyo and the Bureau of Industry and Security, Washington, DC, are pleased to present a “U.S. Export and Reexport Controls Seminar” in Tokyo, April 23, 2014 followed by a half-day of one-on-one industry consultations on April 24, 2014.

Compliance with U.S. export control laws is a topic of vital importance for many domestic and foreign companies. With significant reforms of these laws on the way, this seminar will present the latest information on a wide range of export control regulations and the export control reform (ECR) effort, as the first pair of ECR rules became effective in October 2013. These rules make it easier for U.S. companies to export certain sensitive items to Japan and may create new export opportunities for companies interested in doing business in Japan.

A highlight of this seminar will be a keynote address by the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Assistant Secretary for Export Administration, Kevin Wolf, who will explain the status of this reform effort and the recent changes that have been made. Topics also include deemed exports/reexports and country policy updates as well as export enforcement and due diligence.

One-on-One company consultations will be available as time permits on Thursday, April 24 from 9:00 - 12:00.
