Jim Curtis, Commercial Officer
An experienced executive on strategic international business, Jim has counseled over 500 international firms, governments, NGO’s and educational institutions on market entry development, with a particular focus on China, where he resided from 2002-2013.
While in China, he worked on a diverse range of projects for corporate clients, including Marriott, Hershey’s, TE Connectivity, Carpenter Technologies and many US-based SME’s. In the education sector, among the schools he worked with include the University of Pennsylvania, Penn State University, the University of Maryland and the University of Minnesota. He also was a founding member of a unique charitable fund between US-based Pearl S. Buck International and the Shanghai Soong Ching Ling Foundation. In the field of cultural relations, he worked intimately with the Philadelphia Orchestra in support of their historic China performances and tours in 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2013.
Prior to his work in China, Jim was a Buyer for the Hecht’s division of the May Company, a Fortune 500 retail department store company that was acquired by Macy’s in 2005.
Jim has a Masters in Business from the University of Maryland, College Park and he received his undergraduate degree in Political Science from James Madison University. He is conversant in Mandarin and is married with 3 children.
