NEW MARKETS, NEW JOBS: THE NATIONAL EXPORT INITIATIVE SMALL BUSINESS TOUR
President Obama announced the National Export Initiative in his 2010 State of the Union address and set the ambitious goal of doubling U.S. exports in the next 5 years to support millions of jobs here at home.
Many American businesses that want to export – especially small- and medium-sized businesses – need help getting started, whether it’s with market research, export financing or assistance navigating the trade laws of foreign governments.
That’s why the Obama administration is launching “New Markets, New Jobs,” a national outreach effort to help small-and medium sized businesses that want to break into new markets abroad. In addition to hearing from Cabinet-level officials about resources available at the federal, state and local levels, these events will feature expert panels on targeted exports topics, including export financing, expanding access to overseas markets, and protecting intellectual property rights, as well as one-on-one export “counseling” for business owners who want to learn more about exporting. Members of the President’s Export Council participating in the tour include officials from the Departments of Commerce and Agriculture, the Small Business Administration, the Office of The United States Trade Representative and the Export-Import Bank of the United States.

Trade experts from the federal agencies will share with audience members about the spectrum of federal resources available to help begin exporting or expand their exports. The panels will include a representative from each agency and companies who have utilized federal resources to expand their exports.
