Jonathan C. Knaus

Jonathan C. Knaus joined Western Union Business Solutions in May 2011 to lead the strategic initiative to offer the company’s network of global agents the opportunity to provide foreign exchange payments to their customers on the Business Solutions platform. He established a global team that is negotiating, signing contracts and implementing a B2B solution for agents around the globe. He is currently responsible for WUBS operations in Latin America, Caribbean, Central America & Russia.

Prior to this new role, Jonathan worked for Western Union as Regional Vice President, Eastern Europe & CIS based in Moscow, Russia where he was responsible for expanding Western Union’s network locations and delivering business volume targets across Russia, 11 republics of the Former Soviet Union and the Adriatics, including Turkey and Israel. Jonathan and his team developed key strategic initiatives in the area of consumer loyalty and implemented key account management strategies in order to meet the needs of their Bank Partners and consumers in a highly competitive market. Jonathan joined Western Union in September 1996.

Prior to joining Western Union, Jonathan spent seven years working for American Express in Moscow, where his final role was General Director of American Express International Services, responsible for growing significantly the Global Network Services merchant acceptance across Russia. Prior to that, he was Director of New Business Development and Merchant Services Expansion, Russia & CIS and Finance Director, Russia & CIS for American Express in Russia. Jonathan’s experience in Finance exceeded 18 years and he had previously worked as Finance Director for Eastman Kodak from 1996 to 1998, Finance Director for Unisys from 1994 to 1995 and as Financial Controller/Finance Director for the Aeromar Joint Venture from 1991 to 1994, all in Russia. He was a resident in Russia for over twenty years. Prior to his career in Russia, he worked for Marriott Corporation and McGlagrey, Hendrickson & Pullen in the United States.

Jonathan holds a Bachelor of Science in Commerce, Accounting and Business Administration from Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Virginia.

Jonathan is currently serving on the Board of Directors of IREX, a non-profit organization based in Washington D.C. providing thought leadership and innovative programs to promote positive lasting change in over 60 countries. Previously, he served on the Board of Directors of the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia for seven years as Chairperson of the Finance Committee.
