Commercial Officer at the American Embassy in Tokyo, Japan
Greg Briscoe serves in Tokyo, Japan where he heads up the Administration Unit in the Commercial Section of the U.S. Embassy. This is Greg’s second time in Tokyo and he is looking forward to using his background and expertise to the benefit of U.S. exporters.
Prior to Tokyo, Greg spent two years in Memphis, Tennessee working directly with FedEx Corporation to coordinate efforts to assist U.S. small and medium-sized exporters. He was the Commercial Service’s primary contact for cooperation with FedEx on events and communications under the corporate partnership program. Greg’s efforts saw increasing numbers of FedEx clients learning about and taking advantage of Commercial Service expertise and assistance and, as result, expanding their export profiles. His tour was so successful that the Commercial Service replaced him with another officer to build on Greg’s foundation.
Prior to Memphis, Greg served in both Paris and Tokyo. While in Paris he oversaw all trade promotion operations and took charge of CS France's market research effort. Greg also managed CS France’s relations with FedEx France, pioneering a number of initiatives that now serve as guides for other CS posts looking to benefit from our corporate partnerships.
Greg’s trade promotion emphasis in Paris was balanced by his trade policy work in Tokyo. As head of CS Japan’s Major Projects and Environment Unit, he oversaw the Embassy's commercial initiatives in construction, electric power and equipment, environmental services, basic industries, and building products. Greg focused on promoting greater access to Japan's large basic industries markets, working with Japanese Government officials to ensure a fair playing field for U.S. companies.
Greg received his BA in International Relations from Brigham Young University and an MBA from George Washington University. He is married and has four children.
