Rwanda has a small market with a population of ten million people and a total GDP of approximately $4.5 billion. Economic growth was 11.2 percent in 2008, but declined to 5.3 percent in 2009 due to the global economic crisis. Observers project that the economy will grow between 5 and 7.5 percent annually for the next three years. In its 2010 Ease of Doing Business Indicators report the World Bank recognized Rwanda as the world’s top reformer in business regulations and investment climate. Rwanda now ranks 67th in the world and 5th in Africa for ease of doing business.
