Korea Travel and Tourism Industry

The Office of Travel and Tourism Industries stated that over a million visitors from Korea visited the United States in 2010, with revenue of about USD 3.8 billion. A booming rebound from the previous year, Korea is one of the first countries to recover from the world-wide economic downturn experienced in 2008, and is expected to provide the sixth largest number of visitors to the U.S. after UK, Japan, Germany, France and Brazil.

As a newly introduced visa-waiver country in 2008, Korea is ready to travel to the United States.  Koreans travel to the United States, primarily to shop.  Koreans do business in the United States and then visit locations and shop.  The exponential benefit to the U.S. services industry is obvious.

Additionally, President Obama signed the Travel Promotion Act in March of 2010, fingering tourism as one of the sectors with the most export promise.
