His Excellency P.K. Amissah Arthur, Vice President of the Republic of Ghana
The Honorable Gene Cretz, U.S. Ambassador to Ghana
Organized by the U.S. Commercial Service, this event will provide a forum for energy opportunities in Ghana with a focus offshore oil and gas opportunities.
Since jubilee discovery, Ghana’s basins continue to attract very high interests from major oil and gas companies. Twenty-three other new discoveries have been made and are at various stages of development. The government estimates that recent discoveries in Ghana may double proven oil reserves to five billion barrels by 2015. Oil production currently averages at 100,000 barrels per day and expected to double when a second field starts production in 2016.
Ghana currently has a proven gas reserve of about 2.4 trillion cubic feet. While the first natural gas processing plant is yet to be commissioned, a second plant is expected to spur demand for LNG to augment the inadequate supply of natural gas from its fields and irregular supply from Nigeria.
There are numerous opportunities for US. manufacturers and service providers in the following sectors: project management, drilling contracting, oilfield services contracting, drilling contracting, decommissioning services contracting, engineering contracting, fabrication contracting and production operations.
