About the London 2012 Olympics

London will be host the 2012 Olympic Games from July 27 to August 12, 2012. This will be the third Olympic Games held in London, which previously hosted the games in 1908 and 1948. As the city prepares for the most important international sporting event in the world, excellent opportunities are available for American exporters of goods and services. Billions of dollars will be spent to regenerate London’s East End and to transform it into an environmentally friendly and sustainable site for the various Olympic events.

Delivering the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games requires the procurement of goods, works and services from an enormous range of firms. The procurement process is already underway with the first major tender, for the Olympic Stadium, posted in July 2006. The Olympic Delivery Authority began awarding contracts in 2007.
