On April 18, 2013, the U.S. Commercial Service in Jerusalem organized an FTA Workshop in full cooperation with the AmCham Palestine. More than 50 Palestinian businesspeople participated in the one-day Workshop which was organized at the Caesar Hotel in Ramallah. This event was an awareness session for Palestinian importers and exporters on how to maximize the benefits of the U.S. Duty Free Treatment of Products of the West Bank and Gaza.
During the Workshop, the Chairperson of the AmCham Palestine Mr. Said Baransi officially opened the seminar, was followed by U.S. Consul General Mr. Michael Ratney, and later on by the Palestinian Authority’s Deputy Minister of National Economy; Mr. Abdel Hafiz Nofal. Commercial Counselor Maria Andrews spoke about the business relationship between the United States and the West Bank, Ms. Naomi Wiegler from the U.S. Department of Commerce gave a presentation on the U.S. Free Trade Arrangement, and Commercial Counselor in Jordan Mr. Sandy Owens gave an overview of the FTA with Jordan.
